How to for custom made Hella design taillights.

Stuff u need:
–    1 set of back lights.
–    Hella Lights (U can order them at any car-shop)
–    Wiring for the Hella units
–    Polyester
–    lots of paint brushes (The cheapest u can find)
–    Fiberglass mats
–    Polyester filler
–    Spray filler
–    Clay
–    Plaster
–    Dremel Multi tool (or u have to sand paper by hand a lot!!!!)
–    Sand paper
–    Plastic foil
–    Kit (Universal glue. The best is TEK7, but it is not available in every country!)
–    And lots of patience!!!
–    TIP:    Always try first on a piece u do NOT need!!!
Step 1:
First u have to remove the glass. You can break the glass, or try to get it out in one piece. The second choice is the hardest one. With a paint burner,Stanley knife, 2 screwdrivers and lots of patience u might be ably to get it out in 1 piece. The Third choice is to put the taillight in a preheated oven (100°C),for about 8 minutes. Now you can pull the glass off.
After the glass is removed, u have to remove the inside. This u can do with the Multi tool or a saw.
When this is finished, u can continue.

Step 2:
Now u can seal off the bottom with some cardboard. Now you put plastic foil inside the unit.
Fill up the unit with clay, until it is full. Be sure to press it properly so no ear is in between! Especially the top!!! Make the top smooth.
Now it is time to draw the first lamp. Don’t forget to measure if all units fit!!!
After drawing u can start removing the clay until the unit fits right. The second unit is the same, except u make a little edge. If this is the way u want it, then u can do the third the same way.
TIP: If u can’t make it in 1 day then put a garbage bag around it, so no air can come in. This way the clay won’t dry. If this does happen, u can spray the clay wet and it will become soft again… Keep in mind that the clay shrinks!!! (It took me together with my mom about 2 weeks to get it right!)

Step 3:
Now u repeat step 2 on the second unit, Keep the first one next to it, so it is easy to see if the are the same!

Step 4:
Ok now it is time to make the contra mold. We have built a wall of clay around the unit. Then we put some greasy stuff against the inside of the mold and unit, so it is easy to get the mold out! Then we fill it up with plaster and let it dry for a few days.

Step 5:
Now u can carefully remove the clay from the plaster!

Step 6:
The next step is top put grease or wax on the mold. Then u can put polyester on the mold. The best way to cut the fiberglass is to rip it (this is more messy!) You start with a thin layer of Polyester, then the fiberglass and then again polyester over it (Dab with the brush). If it has enough cover let it dry for a day.

Step 7:
When this is really dry, carefully remove the polyester from the mold. Then u can remove the rest of the plaster with the multi tool.
Cut the polyester unit the right size. Make it a little smaller then the original unit. Now it is time to start sand papering until it is completly smooth!
Make the holes for the units inside the rings. When this is done u can glue the poly mold to the original unit.

Step 8:
When the kit is dry, you can put a extra layer of fiberglass, so the poly mold and the unit become one piece.
Let it dry for a day.
Now it is time to sand paper for weeks, until the result u want is there . Dan spray the filler.
Ook dit laat je weer drogen. Nu is het alleen nog maar weken schuren en plamuren tot het gewenste resultaat. Dan nog even in de spuit plamuur.
