This how to is about how we wrapped our supercharged miata frozen anthracite matt.

Stuff u need:

– Cleaning products (meguiars)
– sharp Stanley knife
– paint heater gun.
– gas burner + lichter
– degreaser (motip)
– Car Wrap foil in the color you want. (frozen anthracite matt)
– soft squeegee (click here for picture)
– Magnets
– tools
– second person (goes much quicker and is a lot easier)

Start off with really giving the car a good wash. We even used clay afterwards to make it even smoother. The smoother the surface the better!

Now take apart the parts you want.
We wanted to do the inside of the doors, so we removed doors and bumpers.

Then the car looked like this:

Before u start, it is smart to first wrap a piece that you do not see. Just so you get a feeling of how the foil reacts to heat and curves. And don’t start on something difficult like the doors. (like we did)

Ok lets start. Cut the sticker into the size u want. Always overlap at least 10 cm. remove the protection layer. Now it is smart to start working with 2 people. Pull the sticker tight an place it as tight as possible on the panel. Now make one stripe with your squeegee.

As below:

Now you may start smoothing out from the middle to the top / corners and then from the middle to the bottom / corners. Best way is to heat the foil a little with the heat gun, and then pull it tight. Then go over it with your squeegee. It is much easier to make corners like this. If you have 2 big “bumps” in your panel, just pull the foil tight over both bumps. then heat the foil in the middle and push it smooth. WARNING don’t make the foil to warm, it becomes very soft and you could damage it!

Once done use the gas burner to heat the sharp corner up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. This will not make the glue soft, and the foil will keep its form better. Then cut away what you do not need…

It should give the following result:

Some final tips:

– Make sure the surface is clean and degreased, including your hands.
– Take your time and work with 2 people
– Keep the Stanley knife sharp
– With 3M Di-Noc foil, like carbon, do not stretch and heat to much. This could remove the carbon effect!

Finally i would like to thank De jong reclame for searching and delivering this fine car wrap foil. And i would like to thank my dad for all his help.

THANKS!!!!
